Anita Ramirez is a writer and teacher who transforms dispassionate teens into lovers of books — one reader at a time.
In high school, she carried around a notebook, jotting observations about the people and situations around her, which she later turned into stories.
She started her debut YA novel, the soon to be published Miss Americana, in 2008, put it down for several years, and then finally finished it in 2020.
Aside from writing, her passion is teaching language and literature to high school students from Central America.
She loves the poetry of Pablo Neruda, teen movies from the 1980s and café con leche.
